Minister-Industry Dialogue: Energy Efficiency and Sustainability

The Minister-Industry Dialogue (MID) provided a platform for discussion between high-level public and private stakeholders on the topics of energy efficiency and sustainability. The MID was chaired by the Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili, and focused on the energy ecosystem and how to maximise the impact of energy-efficient and sustainable measures across the board. The event also included feedback and questions from industry leaders who were present in the audience.

Discussion among the CEOs and senior executives addressed multiple issues, from the steps being taken by PETRONAS in response to the low oil-price environment, to ideas related to enhancing creativity, efficiency and cost reductions across the board.

Inclusive Prosperity and a Sustainable Future

Representatives from the Malaysian government, as well as the investment, real estate, retail, logistics, creative and academic sectors, who are shaping development in Iskandar Malaysia today, identify and prioritise ways to stimulate long-term growth to 2025 and beyond. This included addressing a number of key challenges, from tackling supply versus demand imbalances to the availability of human resources for companies hoping to take advantage of the region as a low-cost location.

The debate centred on pressing topics, including retaining talent in the public sector and in the Malaysian healthcare system in general, increasing the involvement of the private sector in talent development and training, and measuring and improving quality of care through the application of health informatics.
